Six weeks later almost nobody was using it, and the whole thing quietly became a line item nobody wanted to talk about. The tool was rarely the problem. The rollout was. Copilot is genuinely useful when people know which of their own tasks to point it at, and genuinely underwhelming when they are left to guess. Without a plan, every rollout follows the same sad arc. We call it the eye-roll cycle. Week 1: Novelty Licences land, everyone has a play. Someone makes a poem about the office kettle. Screenshots fly around Teams. Spirits are high. Weeks 2 to 4: Disappointment The party tricks wear off and nobody has shown people what Copilot is actually for in their job. Answers feel generic, a few results are plain wrong, and the shine comes off fast. Week 5 and beyond: Abandonment Usage flatlines. The licences keep billing every month. When someone mentions Copilot in a meeting, you can hear the eye-rolls. Officially, it is "something we tried". The gym membership problem A Copilot licence is a January gym membership. Buying it feels like progress, but nothing changes until someone actually turns up with a routine. This module is the routine: a deliberate pilot, real use cases, champions, and an honest way to measure whether it is working.
